Pillared and porticoed, Divertimento, set on 5.5 acres on the banks of the Wissahickon in Fairmount Park, has the neo-classical good bones of a home built for an old Philadelphia family. Several, actually — the circa 1800s mansion has accomodated such clans as the Rawles, Mittens and Morrises over the past two centuries. The wooded and landscaped property is so inspiring that its owner from 1949 to 198, composer Vincent Persichetti, frequently wrote music here — including the composition ‘Divertimento’.
